When I got back to the staging area, the cool tree shade that covered my vehicle was all gone! Luckily, I left the right side windows rolled down for my dog. Cleo was anxious to get out, and as I opened the doors, she took off like a cruise missile into the woods. Apparently some kritter, probably a rabbit, was taunting Cleo while I was riding. I shouted for her and she strolled back nose glued to the ground, trying to pick up on that rabbit scent.
Cleo was definitely in pursuit and hunt mode, we jumbed from tree shade to tree shade in chase of the elusive rabbit. Then I remembered that we're in traditional Mountain Lion territory, and they like dog meat!...It's time to GO!! By the way; The staging area and the terrain reminded me of Miami Creek trails by Oakhurst. Miami Creek has less rocks and far more dangerous RUTTS!
I was really beat, more so because of the scorching heat than anything else! Turned the AC on high, crawled my way out of Polique Canyon and Holcomb valley trail, and on to the beautifull and scenic Big Bear Lake.
